Leans a small boy holding a twig,

A long watch. His mother calls

The kids at school
Aren’t nice.

They call me
Four-eyes
Fat-face
Dum-bo

They say:
Yo mamma’s so fat
Yo mamma’s so ugly
Yo mamma’s so stupid

And they mean it!

(What I don’t get is
They don’t even KNOW my mamma!)

But I let them laugh
Because, like Mamma says,
They’ll drop out
And I’ll get A’s
Someday they’ll sit
Across from me
While we discuss
Their salary
And how because
This year was low
I have no choice
But to

i write me a poem
and it turns to a verse
it’s half holy prayer
and a whole lotta curse
and i sing it to myself
when i’m walking around
it plays around in my head
it plays me into the ground
its a song about life
and a song about fear
and how they come up just
to kick you right in the rear
little words at first
plop on out of an egg
and mess around for a while
and wobble on little legs
then they leave the nest
and fly to where it’s warm
and i’m left alone
in the calm my storm
but my pen’s not a sword
it’s a freaking tank
and i’ll blow you all away
(all the way to the bank)
when the apogee of
my epiphanies sing
you’re invited to my land
the land where i am king
