I made a tuna sandwich
and wondered at the fact
that a can of tuna is just enough
to fit between two pieces of bread
Was this by design, or coincidence?
Was a tuna can made with this in mind?
Or rather, was bread designed for tuna?

fresh powder spills and folds
around my feet and blue board.
straight down the steep slope,
no carving, eyes straight ahead,
the mound speeding toward me

The other day I realized
With a silly little laugh
That I hadn’t thought of him
For a week and a half.
I feel so free and easy!
